Title A name given to the resource City of Buffalo Birth Records Description An account of the resource The City of Buffalo birth records collection comprises four microfilm rolls, collecting records from the former New York State Board of Health and the City of Buffalo Clerk's office. The records are birth returns or other brief documentation, primarily showing the date of birth, the names of parents with occupations, the address and the attending physician. There are four rolls in total. The rolls cover the following dates: Roll 1: December 12, 1850 to August 31, 1878 (few records before 1878) Roll 2: September 1, 1878 to July 4, 1879 Roll 3: July 1, 1879 to March 6, 1881 Roll 4: March 7, 1881 to September 16, 1881 Each individual document from the original microfilm has been assigned a frame number. For example, the 439th document on the second microfilm roll would have the title "City of Buffalo Birth Records: September 1, 1878 to July 4, 1879 [frame 439]". There are many gaps, and the records are not comprehensive, representing a small sample of births in the City of Buffalo for the given dates.
