Description

Participants of the We the People Community Quilt project were asked to answer a number of questions regarding their quilt square.
1. What does your square represent? I used tweed fabric to make bookshelves and cut small pieces of striped fabric to make books. I glued each strip to make realistic shelves. The green border is representative of my dad. The green clouds were cut from sheep-patterned fabric.
2. Why did you choose these symbols? Reading and books in general has been the center of my life since I learned to read, and have since led me to working in a library. My dad, who passed in 2017, was my greatest supporter in my love of books and his memory surrounds everything I do. He encouraged hard work and pride in that work, as well as strong passion and love for what you do.
3. What do you hope viewers notice or feel? I hope they feel inspired to read a book and visit a library!
