Title A name given to the resource Spilling Grain: Audio Stories from the People of Buffalo's Grain Elevators, 2019-2020 Description An account of the resource Spilling Grain is an oral history project created by Kate Kaye, Buffalo native and journalist, to chronicle the grain industry in Buffalo, as well as those who worked in it and its cultural impact. The project was begun in 2019, and is currently hosted on Kaye's website at <a href="https://redtailmedia.org/spilling-grain/">redtailmedia.org</a>. Kaye graciously donated a copy of the complete project for permanent preservation and inclusion in the B&ECPL Digital Collections in 2023. The collection includes photographs taken by Kaye in 2019 and 2020, as well as edited oral history recordings from grain industry and mill workers, scholars, and musicians. So, when the longtime music curator at Buffalo’s contemporary arts center Hallwalls got a chance to keep watch over a<a href="https://www.hallwalls.org/visual/6131.html"> robotic electronic sound installation inside a grain elevator, </a>his sound nerd alarm bells rang. Steve camped out inside the Marine A elevator to watch over an art installation at what had become known as Silo City for the month of September 2019, playing his sax and didgeridoo, hearing ghostly sounds, diverting rain, and even witnessing a Buffalo Bills fan's life-affirming experience through art.
