Participants of the We the People Community Quilt project were asked to answer a number of questions regarding their quilt square.
1. What does your square represent? My square represents how I felt looking at the Statue of Liberty for the first time. I used dark colors to show that it is nightime, and felt to give the square a softer look.
2. Why did you choose these symbols? I chose the Statue of Liberty because the first time I saw it from a ferry, I felt a sense of calm and safety.
3. What do you hope viewers notice or feel? I hope viewers feel a sense of safety looking at my depiction of the Statue of Liberty.
